Dress Give Away!

Hello people!

I am so happy to announce my first GIVE AWAY!

I considered the idea for a while. I had two main issues with it. The first is that I am a plus size girl, and any piece that I would give away would be therefore plus size. I don't know for how many persons it would work. The second reason is the fear of the shipping costs, as not many of my followers are not from around here... But I felt like it was all worth it!

Anyway, I have decided to offer one lucky reader my version of the Coffee Date Dress!

It is the one I made after I wrote a blog post explaining the easy way to upgrade patterns. The dress is made with wool Burberry fabric (bottom) and a stretchy Polyester top. For those who know what the original Coffee Date Dress is like, I haven't used the ruffle, but I made two cute bows instead. It also has princess seams instead of simple darts.

Now, for the technical side. The dress fits my measurements (and I am feeling quite self conscious about writing them down):

- Bust: 122 cm (48'')
- Waist: 112 cm (44'')
- Hips: 140 (55'')

I think that you must be around those measurements for it to fit, though, the top is stretchy, so you could squeeze a bit more. The dress can also be cinched in at the waist with a belt or even better, you can alter it to fit you (downgrading).

How do you enter the give away? It is very easy!

1) Become a follower of my blog
2) Tell me which female TV personality you like most
3) Comment to tell me that you want to enter and make sure that I have your e-mail adress

That's it!

You can participate until the 20th of November!

Ready...

GO!

  1. I am going to throw my hat into your contest. Just wanted to say I really enjoy reading your blog, and I love seeing your projects. You inspire me not to be so lazy about my sewing, and while some of your choices get a little "girly" for me, I love seeing your progress. How do you get this stuff made so fast?! Thanks for hosting a plus-sized and body positive giveaway :)

  2. Oh, I forgot about the TV personality... You know, I have maybe like a list sort of thing going in my head, so Buffy and Faith from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Clarissa from Clarissa Explains it All (as I am assuming you are alluding to favorite females and their wardrobes), Chuck from Pushing Daisies,Leeloo from Fifth Element (movie shown ON tv, lol) and I am probably forgetting a bunch more.

  3. I'll enter! I follow you in google reader, but I'm not sure if that's the same thing as being a follower? In any case, my favourite female tv personality is Rory from Gilmore Girls, because she's smart, and she's kind, but she doesn't let people walk all over her, and she stands up for herself. Incidentally, I think it's a RAD idea for you to offer giveaways for the more voluptuous girls (like me)! I read a lot of blogs that host a lot of great giveaways, but usually the sizing hovers somewhere around a 6 or an 8. Those bloggers don't worry about excluding those of us who aren't slender, so don't you worry about excluding people who are! It's only fair, ha ha! Oh, and I'm not sure if you have my email but it's beycah at gmail dot com.

  5. Hooray for you! I love the dress (and the HAT!). It's not my size, but a plus size giveaway is such a good thing, there needs to be more of them I think, I've never seen one before and I'm sure there are loads of plus size girls around - I just hope they find your giveaway!
And I hope your dress finds a great new home and makes someone really happy!
As for my favourite TV dress-personality, hmm... I mainly watch documentaries... (ooouh) but I do enjoy watching the clothes worn in Gossip girl. By most of the characters, actually (great, eh!).

  6. Love your blog soooo much. I too live in Europe (Moscow) and I know the frustration of waiting for patterns from overseas; I ordered my Vogues mid-September and I still have yet to see them! AND I ordered my Lady Grey BEFORE Gertie's sew-a-long and I still don't have it, but, that's Russia, I guess. Anyway, if I could have one TV character's wardrobe I'd probably go for Callie Torres's from "Grey's Anatomy"... love love love her! My email is rachelirenelunan(at)gmail(dot)com.

  7. This is my kind of giveaway! You already know I love your Coffee Date dress from Flickr ;) I've been a faithful follower for a while now as well. As for my favorite female TV personality, well, that would have to be Dana Scully! I was obsessed with the X-Files when I was younger. Truth be told, I still kind of am! She was such a strong woman and somehow her taupe suits and over-sized trench coats were glamorous to little me. My email is jv@jaimieleedesign.com :D

  8. Someone needs to start a business buying patterns on sale here in the states from JoAnn and shipping them to y'all. We get vogue on sale for $3.99 a piece, Simplicity $1.99, McCalls $1.99, Butterick $.99-1.99... And employees get 15% off...
